The Bee hives in Bute Park once supplied honey to the wealthy Bute family and their guests in Cardiff Castle but over 60 years have passed since honey was last produced in the city centre park.
Thanks to private donations to help re-set up the hives and the mentoring of enthusiastic park employees by local beekeepers, Nature’s Little Helpers, Bute Park honey is now back on the menu and is seasonably available to buy directly from Bute Park Education Centre and Pettigrew Tea Rooms.
Park users are able to view the bee hives through a special window in fence at the Bute Park Plant Shop during opening hours.
