We'd like to say a massive thank you to the organisers of @xmasatbutepark for inviting our families and staff along to enjoy the illuminations this year. They enjoyed some quality time together, making new memories and remembering our loved ones who are no longer with us.

European mole (Talpa europea) This mole lives in European mole (Talpa europea)

This mole lives in a tunnel system, which it constantly extends. It uses these tunnels to hunt its prey. Under normal conditions, the displaced earth is pushed to the surface, resulting in the characteristic molehills. It is an omnivore that feeds mainly on earthworms, but also on insects, centipedes and even mice and shrews.

These trees produce large, edible nuts that can be roasted and are often sold in streets and fairs in the winter.

The Romans ground the chestnuts into flour. We use them in a variety of recipes including chestnut stuffing to go with turkey at Christmas.

The Ginkgo tree is also known as the maidenhair tree and is one of the most unusual tree species in the world. It has survived on the planet since the Jurassic period and is therefore known as a 'living fossil'.

Since these trees can live for over a thousand years, the trees are considered symbols of longevity and good health. Give a ginkgo bonsai to a friend or relative as a birthday present and wish them “100 years” of happiness!

The oak tree is easy to identify with it uniquely shaped leaves.

Oak trees provide a unique habitat for hundreds of species of other plants and animals.

Oak trees are prone to being struck by lightening and in Greek mythology the oak tree was seen as sacred to Zeus, the God of lightning and thunder.

The timber is widely used in building, fencing joinery and boat building and is extremely durable.
