Barriers and Fencing

First published 3rd Feb, 2020

Barriers and fencing must be fit for purpose and able to withstand the applied loading whether from wind or crowd.

Where pressure from an audience is expected e.g. in front of the stage at pop concerts, a properly constructed front of stage barrier will be required.

"Four days of Jubilee celebration in Cardiff" A B "Four days of Jubilee celebration in Cardiff"

A Big Jubilee Picnic in Bute Park will round off four days of celebrations in Cardiff to mark the Queen's Jubilee.

The bank holiday weekend will also see a Royal Gun Salute take place in Roald Dahl Plass, followed by a military music festival, a concert at Cardiff Castle, the visit of a Royal Navy ship, and the lighting of a Beacon in Cardiff Bay.

Big Jubilee Picnic (Sunday 5thJune, 12-5pm)

Pack a hamper, gather your family and friends and head to beautiful Bute Park for a Big Jubilee Picnic to round off the weekend. Visitors will be able to watch the Platinum Jubilee Pageant live from London on a giant screen or simply relax and enjoy the free music and walkabout entertainment on site.

With everything from giant flamingos to wandering opera it promises to be a very memorable afternoon.

The park cafes will be open as usual, but there will not be food and drink for sale at the event site, so remember you can bring your own delicious Jubilee spread!

The Big Jubilee Picnic is supported by the UK Government Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.

❗ Please remember BBQ’s (disposable or otherwise) are discouraged in all Cardiff parks.
❗ They pose a health and safety risk to people, wildlife and dogs especially when left unattended while still hot.
❗ Disposing of a BBQ in one of our bins while still hot can cause a fire.

Treet of the Week 🌳 Common laburnum (Laburnum Treet of the Week 🌳

Common laburnum (Laburnum anagyroides)

This is a small tree, introduced into the UK in 1560 and often planted in parks and gardens. It is most recognisable when in flower, with its hanging bunches of yellow blooms, which is why it is also known as the 'Golden rain' or 'Golden chain' tree.

It is highly poisonous, so don't eat it! 🙊

Can you find this beautiful tree in Bute Park?
