About Bute Park 1

Trivia

What is a friar?

You are correct.
Well done!

Hmmm... that's not right.

Did you know?

The Friary in Bute Park is known as Blackfriars Friary, as the monks wore black hoods.

It is still a feature of the park today and is marked in brickwork constructed in Victorian times.

The original friary tiles from the restoration in Victorian times can be seen in what was Pettigrew Tea Rooms.

Check out the carved oak door at the café/visitor centre entrance to see the bronze hooded monk.
