The West Gate entrance at the southern end of Bute Park is roughly 10 minutes walk from Cardiff Central station and 15 minutes walk from Cardiff Queen Street.

There are cycles racks available outside the Education Centre and by all 3 cafes.

The water bus stop is situated at the southern end of Bute Park near Cardiff Bridge. The service runs to Cardiff Bay between 10am and 5pm. Please check Cardiffboat.com and Aquabus.co.uk for further information.


Bute Park Winter Commuter Access

The winter commuter access route through Bute Park between the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama (Fisher’s Bridge) entrance & Millennium Bridge (Sophia Gardens) is open until 7pm each evening.

All other entrances will close half an hour before sunset, please see onsite signage for weekly closing times, or download a copy of our weekly closing times at the top of this page.

Please note that this route is not lit at night. Users do so at their own risk.
