Natural Resources Wales (NRW) has started bank maintenance works today along the river Taff within Bute Park. The work will be carried out by both NRW’s frame work contractor and the NRW Operations Field Team.
They are carrying out the works as part of their flood defence assets annual maintenance programme. The area of the proposed work is part of one of their largest flood protection schemes in Cardiff, it is therefore important that they carryout regular maintenance to keep the scheme in the appropriate condition.
They are carrying out selective tree management for the following reasons:
- To prevent further damage to the concrete revetment on the banks (To help prevent potential erosion problems).
- To prevent blockages and debris build ups within the channel and on the channels edge.
- To allow ease of access for our flail mowers to carry out our future mowing works in respect to Health and Safety.
The only signage in use will be for health and safety reasons to warn the public of the works, not for general information.
