Bute Park is full of wildlife for you to discover.
Highlight species include woodpeckers, jays, tree creepers and kingfishers; butterflies, damselflies, dragonflies and bees, as well as lots of interesting fungi, plants and flowers.
If you’re lucky you may even spot otters, which are known to reside along the river, but these are notoriously shy, so sightings are very rare.
Monthly wildlife highlights information was compiled by the Friends of Bute Park using the expert local knowledge of their members. If you would like to take part in volunteer projects such as this, take a look at our volunteering opportunities.
